ABOUT ME
I’m Rebekah Hubley—the driving force behind The Pure Bliss Project. Based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I’ve spent the past 25 years traveling the globe to create images that leave a lasting impact on every person I photograph. My work goes beyond photography; it’s about the connections I forge and the trust I build, honoring each individual’s unique story and celebrating their purest moments in life.
In the fall of 2022, my son, Jonas, came home with unacceptable school photos. In the picture, Jonas was completely disengaged and still wearing his jacket and safety harness. At that very moment, I knew this problem needed to be solved and that I possessed the rare skill set to be a big part of the solution and effect positive change with school pictures for special needs children
Every fall, each child has their photo taken, and regardless of their ability, has the right to receive a dignified image that welcomes them to sit at the table of humanity. Most of the school photos of special needs children exemplify their disabilities, instead of accentuating their inner joy and pure bliss.
Many of the kiddos that I photograph are non-verbal and frightened by camera sounds and bright lights. To meet them where they are, I switch my gear to silent mode and rely entirely on available light. In my sessions, the children hold the reins. Their non-verbal cues become our shared language, and I respond with love and respect. Together, we co-create photographs that reveal their unguarded joy—moments of pure bliss that transcend anyone’s expectations. When parents see these images for the first time, they often cry, for these photographs are the truest reflections of their child’s spirit—pure, authentic, and unabashedly themselves.
There’s a special kind of magic in gently stepping into each child’s world and glimpsing the unfiltered beauty within. Being granted that privilege stirs something deep inside me: a blend of awe, gratitude, and humility.
THIS is what I was meant to do!
